Within an integrated project, environmental or climate strategies or plans, which are required in accordance with specific environmental or climate legislation of the EU and on the basis of other EU acts or that were developed by the authorities in Member States, are implemented on a large territorial scale (especially at a regional, inter-regional, national or supranational level).
The projects in question are, in particular, projects relating to nature (including the management of the Natura 2000 network), waters, waste, air and climate change mitigation and adaptation. The integrated projects must ensure the involvement of stakeholders and obtain at least one additional relevant financing source (from the EU, national or private source).
The proposals are sent in physical form to the address of the European Commission. The application procedure is a two-step process.
In addition to LIFE IP CARE4CLIMATE, Slovenia is currently implementing another integrated project for nature, the LIFE integrated project for the enhanced management of Natura 2000 in Slovenia.
