Project partners

The LIFE IP CARE4CLIMATE project is an integrated project that brought together 15 partners from the public, non-governmental and private sectors. Through the awareness-raising, education and training of key stakeholders, the partners will encourage the implementation of measures to help Slovenia meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets by 2020 and 2030.

Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy

Slovenian Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy is addressing the present and future
challenges in the fields of environment, energy and climate change. The key priorities are efficient
energy supply, introduction of modern energy policies, with an emphasis on increasing the share of
renewable energy sources. These are key measures for protecting the environment, the country’s
energy self-sufficiency and tackling climate change. The Ministry is also responsible for public
passenger transport, sustainable mobility and transport policies, which will importantly contribute to
Slovenia’s green transition.

University of Maribor, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture

Within the set of activities for sustainable mobility, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture of the University of Maribor (UM FGPA) is responsible for the implementation of demonstration and pilot projects in the Maribor area.

Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia

The Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (UPI) is responsible for upgrading the integrated traffic engineering system and the integrated transport strategy.

Slovenian Forestry Institute

The Slovenian Forestry Institute (SFI) is responsible for the activities relating to the land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF) sector, establishing the methodology for monitoring carbon stock at the national level for all land uses, the implementation of pilot projects, building professional and governance capacities and awareness-raising.

The Eco Fund is responsible for setting up new financial mechanism for the energy-saving building renovation of corporate entities.

In the area of sustainable mobility, ZUM urbanizem, planiranje, projektiranje d.o.o. is responsible for the activities related to green city logistics.

Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts

In the area of sustainable mobility, the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) will prepare guidelines for the integration of public passenger transport.

Focus Association for Sustainable Development

Focus is responsible for the activities regarding the information and awareness-raising about climate change and sustainable management of community resources, promotion of good practices of climate change mitigation, it participates in training the public administration for the transition to a low-carbon society and training on the efficient use of energy in buildings.

The D'Agency digital agency is responsible for the project's communication activities and participates in raising awareness of the general public about climate change and the transition to a low-carbon society (LCS).

Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning is responsible for the management of the
natural environment, water resources and physical space. It promotes and coordinates efforts
towards sustainable development based on the efficient and economical use of natural resources
and ensuring social wellbeing. The Ministry strives to raise the awareness of the inhabitants of the
Republic of Slovenia about the shared responsibility for the preservation of natural resources and the
management of the physical space.

The Jožef Stefan Institute, Energy Efficiency Centre (JSI EEC) is responsible for activities related to the energy performance of buildings and the transition to a low-carbon society with a focus on the capacity building of stakeholders.

In the area of sustainable mobility, the Institute for Spatial Policies (IPoP) is responsible for the active mobility activities with an aim to increase this form of mobility, especially for short distances.
